The Chinese Communist Party has warned Elon Musk against sharing a recent report from the DOE that concluded the COVID-19 pandemic started as a result of a leak from the Wuhan lab.
Over the weekend, the Energy Department (DOE) released a report asserting that a lab leak was responsible for the start of the pandemic, although they made their conclusions with “low confidence.”
Via its official mouthpiece The Global Times, Beijing suggested Musk’s business interests in China could be harmed if he continues to amplify such claims.
The newspaper suggested Musk was “breaking the pot of China” by blaming them for the outbreak of the virus.

According to CBNC reporter Eunice Yoon, the phrase “breaking the pot” is similar to “biting the hand that feeds you.”
The potential ramifications for Musk upsetting the Chinese could be significant given that Tesla has an “expansive factory campus in Shanghai, and China is the electric vehicle manufacturer’s second largest market.”

Musk’s activity appears to amount to little more than retweeting links about the lab leak origin story.
Meanwhile, FBI Director Christopher Wray said that the origin of COVID-19 was “most likely a potential lab incident”.
Wray told Fox News’ Bret Baier that Beijing has been attempting to undermine the investigation into the issue.
“I will just make the observation that the Chinese government, it seems to me, has been doing its best to try to thwart and obfuscate the work here. The work that we’re doing, the work that our U.S. government and close foreign partners are doing. And that’s unfortunate for everybody,” he said.
