Questions Remain Over ‘Amber Heard’ Op-Ed That Was Ghostwritten by ACLU Staffer

“They have a lot to answer for.”

After actor Johnny Depp emerged successful from his defamation trial with Amber Heard, questions remained about the Washington Post op-ed that triggered the lawsuit given that it was ghostwritten by an ACLU staffer.

The Pirates of the Caribbean star was vindicated after a jury found that Heard, his former spouse, had defamed Depp in a 2018 op-ed she wrote for the Washington Post in which Heard maliciously lied about Depp’s supposedly “abusive” behavior.

“Depp had sued Heard for $50 million in connection with the op-ed, and the jury awarded him $15 million total,” reports Mediaite.

“The jury specifically awarded Depp $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million dollars in punitive damages.”

However, the 2018 op-ed wasn’t really written by Amber Heard, it was pieced together by ACLU staffer Robin Shulman after Heard promised to donate $3.5 million to the liberal activist group, money that was never sent.

“The aim was to capitalize on the #MeToo movement to both smear Depp and promote Heard’s new movie,” writes Chris Menahan. It’s now cost Heard her reputation and some $13 million. #BelieveAllMen!”

Journalist Glenn Greenwald highlighted the issue in a tweet following the verdict.

“One fact that clearly emerged from the trial: the Amber Heard op-ed in the @washingtonpost that the jury just found defamed Johnny Depp was ghost-written by @ACLU , after Heard promised to pay them $7 million (a promise she never fulfilled),” he tweeted.

“They have a lot to answer for.”

In other news, pundits are citing the result of the trial as coffin nails for the #MeToo movement, which decimated the concept of innocent until proven guilty for years and instead subjected men to trial by media.

The witch hunt reached its peak when random women began trying to ‘MeToo’ male celebrities over bad dates or relationships that ended unsatisfactorily.

The concept of ‘believe all women’ has been correctly replaced with the novel idea of believing the actual evidence.
