Putin Says He Attacked Ukraine to Fight Nazis

Glib excuse overused by virtually everyone.

Vladimir Putin justified his bombardment of Ukraine by asserting that he was fighting Nazis, another reminder that this glib excuse has been overused by virtually everyone both domestically and geopolitically.

Russia claimed that it had completely destroyed Ukraine’s air defenses with a series of precision attacks targeting military infrastructure and airports across the country.

President Vladimir Putin claimed that Russia had “no plans to occupy the Ukrainian territories” after the attack, while also justifying it by saying he was fighting against Nazism.

Putin said Russia would “embark on a demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, and handing over to justice those who committed numerous atrocities against civilians.”

But the legacy media told me that anything is justifiable so long as you say you’re “fighting Nazis.”

The political class in America has spent the last six years justifying violence and riots carried out by BLM and Antifa mobs against Trump supporters and conservatives by condoning it in the name of “anti-fascism.”

After all, Antifa means anti-fascist, so how could they possibly be anything other than virtuous, they’re fighting Nazis!

As Chris Menahan notes, every side in the Ukraine war claims they are fighting Nazis.

Maybe it’s time to finally put this tired cliche to bed for good.
