Video Shows Kindergarten Students Forced to Sit Outside on Buckets in Freezing Weather

COVID-compliant lunch break stokes anger.

Kindergarten students in Portland, Oregon were forced to sit outside eating lunch on buckets in the near-freezing cold while socially distanced from their classmates.

A video posted to Twitter shows the miserable scene, which was spotted by someone passing by Capitol Hill Elementary School.

The kids are forced to sit outside in 40 degree heat while separated from their friends, presumably as part of the school’s COVID-19 mitigation policy.

One of the kid’s parents who was contacted by The Post Millennial expressed her anger, insisting the policy was their “final straw” with Portland Public Schools.

“As a parent of a student at Capitol Hill Elementary, this policy is abhorrent,” the parent said, adding that in future they would bring their child home for lunch.

“I am beyond furious, especially knowing children are low-risk,” they continued. “Governor Brown maskless in DC this weekend was the last straw. We’ve been patient with all of the policies here in Portland in hopes of not being ostracized within the community, but this is the last straw.”

Portland Public Schools have yet to comment on the video, which has received well over 300,000 views on Twitter.
