A Muslim taxi driver in London was dumped by Uber after he refused to pick up two Jewish men because they were wearing kippahs.
The incident began when the taxi driver, named Ahmed, dropped off another passenger before he was about to pick up the two men.
After seeing their kippahs, the driver said, “I don’t take Jews” and drove off before canceling the booking, Sam Adler, one of the men, told the Jewish Chronicle
Uber later responded by saying the driver’s behavior was “totally unacceptable” and that the company “does not tolerate any form of discrimination.”
They withdrew the driver’s access to use the app and contacted London Metropolitan Police to report the incident.
According to Adler, Uber refused to provide him with any compensation.
“We would never want to minimize an experience like you describe by putting an arbitrary monetary value on the situation,” the company told him.
