A woman who describes herself as a “black queer femme activist” left a drop of blood in the men’s toilets as a “reminder that any gender can get their period and use whatever bathroom they want!”

Hart, who is an adjunct at Columbia University’s School of Social Work, immediately began to receive a backlash on Twitter.
“By leaving a mess for a low wage worker who has to clean both bathrooms, and depending on local policy may now have to use special cleaners and spend more time. So brave of you,” responded one user.

When Hart tried to defend herself, another woman backed up the original point.
“No honestly as someone who had to clean the bathrooms at CVS for my first job it’s not cool. I know folks get periods. I don’t need your stand,” she said.
